Lithium iron phosphate battery may be selected into Zhangbei energy storage phase II project

After being selected into the first phase of Zhangqiang national scenic energy storage and transmission demonstration project, lithium iron phosphate battery may once again become the second phase of energy storage battery.
According to the person in charge of a lithium battery enterprise who previously participated in the bidding meeting of Zhangbei phase I energy storage battery project, North China Power Grid Co., Ltd. will continue to be responsible for the bidding and procurement of Zhangbei phase II project, and the procurement of energy storage batteries will be completed by the end of 2013. Since the liquid flow battery in phase I has been cancelled in the energy storage battery procurement scheme in phase II of Zhangbei, there are only two alternative energy storage batteries: lithium iron phosphate battery and lead-acid battery. The total purchase quantity of batteries is expected to be more than twice the total capacity of various batteries (71mwh) in phase I, that is, the energy storage batteries with nearly 200mwh are assembled.
The total investment of Zhangbei phase II project is about 6.4 billion yuan, including wind power investment of about 3.6 billion yuan and photovoltaic and energy storage project investment of about 2.8 billion yuan. All projects are scheduled to be completed in December 2015. In the Zhangbei phase I wind power storage and transmission demonstration project, which was completed and put into operation at the end of 2011, the energy storage battery equipment was divided into five packages for batch bidding, four of which were lithium iron phosphate battery systems. The lithium iron phosphate battery system devices were distributed in three factory buildings covering an area of 8869 square meters, which were divided into nine energy storage units. A total of 274560 battery cells are installed in the whole set of lithium iron phosphate device.
According to the actual operation of Zhangbei phase I for two years, the technical performance of lithium batteries applied in the field of large-scale power grid energy storage is relatively mature at present. The operation experience accumulated in Zhangbei phase I is also conducive to the selection of energy storage batteries for phase II projects, which are more inclined to lithium batteries.
